1. Overview
Smart Teleprompter is a floating-bubble teleprompter for Android. It shows your script as a scrolling overlay on top of the camera or video app you are recording with. This policy explains what data the app touches, why, and what it does not do.
The short version: your scripts stay on your device. We run no server for this app, there is no account or sign-in, and we do not collect your name, email or contact details. The free version shows ads served by Google AdMob, which uses some device information as described in section 5.
2. What we collect
We, RB Apps, do not operate a backend for this app and do not receive your data. Specifically:
- Scripts you type, paste or import are saved in a file in the app's private storage on your device. We never see them.
- No account, email or personal identifiers are collected or required to use the app.
- Settings such as scroll speed, font size, colours and theme are stored on your device only.
- Crash information: if the app crashes, a short technical log may be written to the app's private storage on your device. The app does not send it anywhere. If you have chosen to share diagnostics with developers in Google Play, Google may give us anonymous crash reports.
Third-party services used by the app (Google AdMob and Google Play Billing) handle some data themselves, as explained in sections 5 and 6.
3. Permissions
Android requires apps to declare each system capability they use. These are all the permissions Smart Teleprompter requests, and what each is for:

The app does not use your location, contacts, camera, photos or files. It does not record the screen.
4. Voice Tracking
Voice Tracking is the one feature that uses your microphone, and it is optional. When you switch the scroll mode to Voice, the app uses Android's built-in speech recognizer to match what you say against your script and scroll accordingly.
On most devices that recognizer is provided by Google, and the audio may be processed on Google's servers, the same way as Android's built-in dictation. Smart Teleprompter does not record, save or send your audio itself. It only receives the recognized text, to line it up with your script. Recognition runs only while Voice mode is active and stops when you switch modes or close the teleprompter. This processing is covered by Google's Privacy Policy.
If you never choose Voice mode, the app never listens. You can also deny or withdraw the microphone permission in your phone's settings and keep using the Timer and Mouse modes.
5. Advertising
The free version shows a banner ad on the home screen, served by Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, AdMob may collect and use information such as your device's advertising ID, IP address, device and app information, and ad interaction data. Ads are not shown inside the floating bubble or the teleprompter window.
Where the law requires it (for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland), the app asks for your consent through Google's consent form before requesting ads, and you can change your choice later from the app's Settings ("Ad privacy choices"). You can also reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of ad personalisation, in your Android settings. See How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services for details.
The one-time Remove Ads purchase turns the banner off.
6. Purchases
The one-time "Remove Ads" purchase is handled entirely by Google Play. We do not see or store your payment details. The app asks Google Play only whether the purchase has been made, so the banner can be hidden, and you can restore it from Settings on a new device with the same Google account.
7. Storage and retention
Saved scripts and settings live in the app's private storage on your device, which other apps cannot read. They stay there until you delete them in the app or uninstall it, at which point Android removes them. If you use Export, the backup file is saved where you choose and is yours to keep or delete.
8. Sharing
We do not sell, rent or share your scripts or personal information, because we do not collect them. The only data that leaves your device is what Google's own services handle: the audio used by speech recognition if you use Voice mode (section 4), and the advertising and purchase information described in sections 5 and 6.
9. Children
Smart Teleprompter is a general-purpose tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
10. Your choices
- Delete your data: delete scripts inside the app, or clear the app's storage or uninstall it in Android settings.
- Microphone: deny or remove the permission at any time; Timer and Mouse modes keep working.
- Overlay, notifications and battery: manage each permission in Android settings.
- Ads: change your consent choice in Settings where it is offered, reset your advertising ID in Android settings, or buy Remove Ads.
11. Changes to this policy
If the app's behaviour changes in a way that affects your privacy, we will update this page and the effective date at the top. Please check it from time to time.
